William Stevenson
An expert problem solver, operations consultant, project manager and quality engineer, William Stevenson helps manufacturing organizations gain or regain a competitive edge. From his years of helping to ensure nuclear reactor safety in the U.S. Navy to his award-winning technical management at manufacturing organizations, he has demonstrated adherence to numerous strict quality standards and the ability to complete team projects on time and within budget, along with effective, results-oriented leadership and communication.
In problem solving, Mr. Stevenson is as much concerned with communicating, so as to elicit buy-in from employees for change, as he is with performing a rigorous analysis to identify the root cause. When working with shop-floor personnel (value-adders) for process improvements, he does so with an attitude of respect, empathy and coaching, rather than issuing top-down edicts.
Within the nuclear power and automotive industries, his responsibilities have ranged from leading engineering projects, improving operations and reducing the cost of poor quality to mentoring and motivating staff. As a quality/technical services manager, Mr. Stevenson has been responsible for implementing lean manufacturing and six sigma, and auditing compliance with NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Part B, ISO 90001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO/TS 16949.
His experience includes 12 years as a quality/technical services manager or principal engineer for Westinghouse Electric Company, 2 years as a radiation protection engineer/lead quality auditor with UniTech Services Group, 3 years as senior nuclear engineer for ABB Combustion Engineering, 2 years as the customer quality liaison for Avon Automotive and 12 years as a nuclear reactor operator or quality assurance supervisor for the U.S. Navy. He received the George Westinghouse Signature Award three times for his exceptional contribution to his organization.
Mr. Stevenson has a B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences from the University of Michigan and is a member of the American Society for Quality, Society for Manufacturing Engineers and the Association of Manufacturing Excellence.
